Helen Stallard is an independent communications and management consultant for arts and culture, based in Birmingham.
Helen Stallard works with organisations across the cultural sector, including visual arts, performing arts, classical music, literature and community arts. She has a particular interest in festivals and outdoor arts.
Helen was part of the core team to devise Birmingham Weekender, Birmingham’s biggest free arts festival. She devised and delivered the marketing and communications campaigns for each Birmingham Weekender festival (2015, 2017, 2019) plus its pilot, 4 Squares Weekender (2013). Helen also devised and delivered campaigns for Imagineer’s Imagine Bamboo and Bridge projects (2019-2023), Festival of Imagineers (2016-2018) and ShopFront Festival, Coventry (2018), On The Edge Festival in association with Birmingham Repertory Theatre (2016) and Wenlock Poetry Festival (2015, 2016). She was part of the communications team for the Commonwealth Games 2022 Handover on behalf of Culture Central.
Helen was marketing & communications manager for Transforming Narratives, a ground-breaking project that supports creative and cultural practitioners and organisations in Birmingham to engage in exchange with artists and organisations in cities in Pakistan and Bangladesh, led by Culture Central and the British Council (2018-2022).
As an editor, Helen has worked with Birmingham 2022 Festival, Theatre by the Lake and Sampad to produce extensive brochure and book publications.
She has provided audience development and communications consultancy for Imagineer, Craftspace, Black Country Touring, Theatre Absolute, The People’s Orchestra, STEAMhouse, Arts Connect and composer Liz Dilnot-Johnson.
In addition she has devised and delivered marketing and PR campaigns for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, University of Birmingham, Birmingham Festivals Group, Imagineer, Orchestra of the Swan, Ikon, Fierce Festival and London 2012 Festival.
Helen was Chair of Dancefest, the dance development agency for Herefordshire and Worcestershire for 7 years, and a Trustee of Grand Union, the exhibition space and artist studios in Digbeth, Birmingham.
