Two days of dance, including contemporary technique and creative work, all based on the film, The Greatest Showman.
Taught by Cat O'Connell, who teaches Dancefest's Worcester Dancemakers.
Cat will be creating a short piece with the dancers, to share with friends and family at the end of the two days.
So 'Come Alive',' Live a Million Dreams' and be part of our 'Greatest Show!'
We’ve found out an incredible local connection with The Greatest Showman - all thanks to our colleague Pete!
You’ll meet Jenny Lind, the Swedish opera singer - known as “The Swedish Nightingale” in The Greatest Showman, this popular film about the inspirational PT Barnum.
Jenny lived her final years at Wynd's Point, Herefordshire, on the Malvern Hills and played concerts in the area.
Much of the money made from her concerts was given to charity and in 1849 a concert was held at College Hall at King's Worcester. She donated some of the proceeds to The Infirmary, Worcester (UK) to complete their fundraising to build a chapel, which was then named in her honour.
Our offices at The Angel Centre are right opposite the University of Worcester’s Jenny Lind building so we see her name every day!
So if you come along to our Greatest Showman summer school you’ll be so very, very near to The Swedish Nightingale as you create dance based on her story and of those who performed alongside her!
