Youth dance companies

Elevate Junior Youth Dance Company (10-13)
A junior youth dance company for Herefordshire that meets on at 4-5pm at Hereford College of Arts, College Road Campus, Hereford, HR1 1EB

Elevate Youth Dance Company (14+)
Elevate is a contemporary youth dance company for Herefordshire-based dancers aged 14+. It meets on Mondays, 5-6.45pm, Hereford College of Arts, College Road Campus, Hereford, HR1 1EB

Gifted and Talented (7-10)

Thursday 28 September 4.15-5.15pm, then weekly Riverside, University of Worcester, Hylton Road, St John’s, Worcester WR2 5JN A class for children who are already dancing but want to do more, preparing them for the new Worcestershire Youth Dance Company. Entrance is by audition, taking the form of a creative class with elements of technique.
 Registration forms should be returned by 21 September.

Worcestershire Youth Dance Company (11-14)
Thursdays, 5.30-7pm, starting 28 September Riverside, University of Worcester, Hylton Road, St John’s, Worcester WR2 5J A new performance company created by Dancefest and the University of Worcester, for enthusiastic, creative dancers to develop technical and performance skills. Entrance is by audition on 28 September. Application forms should be returned by 21 September.

Dancefest's Dance Development Leader - Young People

Previous members of our youth companies have gone on to train at Trinity Laban and Northern School of Contemporary Dance and are now working as professional dancers and choreographers. See Shelley Haden's story here.

Youth dance classes

Worcester DFY
5.15-7pm, Wednesdays, The Angel Centre, Worcester WR1 3QN. A weekly technique class and performance group led by Josh Slater, dance lecturer at the University of Worcester. This is a great opportunity for students to help improve technique and performance skills, work creatively and take part in regular performances.

Hereford DFY
5.15-6.15pm. Tuesdays, The Courtyard, Hereford HR4 9JR. Fun, structured dance sessions incorporating contemporary technique, choreography and creating new dance routines, with lots of opportunities to perform. This class is taught by Janene Wyatt.

Youth dance opportunities

DanceXchange’s Centre for Advanced Dance Training is designed to nurture and support young dancers aged 11-18 with exceptional talent in dance.
