Marie Oldaker

Marie is a freelance choreographer, creative dance practitioner and arts project coordinator with over twenty five years’ experience working in community and education contexts.

Her artistic focus is predominantly about working creatively with local communities and their histories, across generations, inclusively and to promote health, well-being, curiosity, tolerance and interest in a sustainable way of life. Choreographically, she is most excited by art and performance in outdoor spaces and unusual or unexpected settings.

Marie's most recent formal qualification was an M.A. (distinction) in Choreography from Dartington College of Arts, 2009. Prior to this she trained at Laban (Trinity-Laban dance conservatoire) London, receiving a post-graduate professional diploma in community dance studies (1994). A Bachelor of Education Degree in Fine Art, 1992, has enabled a varied career combining her artistic interests to facilitate a wide range of creative projects and performance.

Marie has a long history with Dancefest and is very proud to share the organisation’s belief that access for all, to high quality dance experiences, has a genuinely positive impact on people’s lives.
