Marie is a freelance creative dance maker-practitioner and arts project coordinator with a broad portfolio spanning nearly thirty years' of working professionally in community and education contexts.
Her artistic focus is predominantly about working creatively with local communities - their histories and narratives, across generations, inclusively and to promote joy, curiosity, good health, well-being, adaptability, meaning and interest in a sustainable way of life.
Choreographically, she is most excited by enabling creative artistic experiences, the explorative process, combining art forms, and working in outdoor spaces and unusual or unexpected settings.
Marie received an M.A. (distinction) in Choreography from Dartington College of Arts in 2009. Prior to this she trained at Laban (Trinity-Laban dance conservatoire) London, receiving a Post-graduate Professional Diploma in Community Dance Studies, 1994.
A Bachelor of Education Degree in Fine Art, 1992, has enabled a varied career combining her artistic interests to facilitate a wide range of creative projects and performance.
Marie has a long history with Dancefest and is very proud to share the organisation's belief that access for all, to high quality dance experiences, has a genuinely positive impact on people's lives.
