Projects
Dancefest employs a number of dance artists who are available to lead work in a variety of settings in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
We offer creative, contemporary, choreographic and street workshops. These can be anything from one-off sessions to residencies and are designed to meet the needs of the group.
Examples of current and previous projects are:
- After school projects with school clusters resulting in a sharing of work.
- Jigsaw, an integrated dance project initiated in Herefordshire with The Music Pool, culminating in a performance at The Courtyard, Hereford. It is a biennial event and 2009 saw an exciting development into Worcestershire and a sharing of work was produced at No 8 in Pershore. The project will continue to develop across the two counties.
- The Youth Dance Tour in Herefordshire, an annual event, where 120 young people from youth groups, school groups and local youth dance companies come together to tour a performance to three local high schools.
- A dance film created with adults with different abilities ‘About Ourselves’ working with Omni Productions.
- An education project with two village schools resulting in a performance on the village green.
- A dance film created with community groups to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the opening of their local library.
- Site specific performances involving intergenerational dance groups. These have so far included performances at the Commandery and St Swithun's Church in Worcester and Hellens Manor in Herefordshire.
- Large scale performances with over 100 school and community performers alongside professional dancers. These have included Dreams and Ruin at Witley Court, Worcestershire in 2005 and Forbidden: A Tale of Love and War at Goodrich Castle in Herefordshire in 2008.
